Passenger numbers up at Gatwick The number of passengers travelling to and from Ireland continued to increase with a 44.8% growth rate. European scheduled traffic rose by 13.9% and European charter traffic rose by 12.4%. The domestic market decreased by 3.4% and the North Atlantic market declined by 0.3%. Other long haul traffic remained static. The airport saisd that the March figures had not been disproportionately inflated by the early Easter this year as the bulk of the Easter travel is still expected to coincide with the school holidays in April. Following its takeover of GB Airways, easyJet became Gatwick’s largest airline in March. easyJet has
been based at Gatwick for eight years and provides 62 routes to domestic and European
destinations. Gatwick is the airline’s largest base. |
